(Miri, 13th) Miri District Police Chief ASP Alexson Naga confirmed that the Bahagian Siasatan Jenayah Narkotik Daerah yesterday conducted a crackdown at a residence in Desa Senadin Garden, Miri, arresting a 47-year-old local man involved in drug trafficking.
The police conducted the operation at 4 PM on the 12th of this month and seized 22 grams of methamphetamine, with a total drug value of 2,420 ringgit.
The police will investigate under Section 39A(1) of the 1952 Dangerous Drugs Act. Under this section, if found guilty, the suspect will be sentenced to a minimum of 2 years imprisonment and not less than 3 strokes of the cane. The suspect is currently detained at Miri Central Police Station.
The Miri police also urge the public to immediately report any information about drug activities to the nearest police station in order to jointly curb and eradicate these activities.
