(Subang, 26th) Deputy Chief of the Royal Malaysian Air Force, Datuk Seri Mohamad Norazlan, was appointed as the 21st Air Force Chief, succeeding Tan Sri Mohamad Asghar, whose tenure ended today.
The handover ceremony was held at the Subang Air Base, witnessed by the Chief of the Armed Forces, Tan Sri Mohamad Nizam.
In addition, the ceremony for Mohamad Norazlan's promotion to General and the farewell inspection for the 20th Air Force Chief were also held simultaneously.
Mohamad Norazlan, 58, was born in Kota Tinggi, Johor. From 1985 to 1987, he trained as a cadet officer (Pegawai Kadet) at the Royal Military College (MTD) in Sungai Besi, and later, in 1998, received Royal Malaysian Air Force flight training in Alor Setar.
During his career, Mohamad Norazlan has piloted various types of fighter jets, such as the Aermacchi MB3394, A4PTM Skyhawk, Mikoyan-Gurevich MIG-29N/UB, and Sukhoi 30MKM.
Meanwhile, Mohamad Asghar joined the Royal Malaysian Air Force as a cadet officer from the Royal Military College on July 18, 1983, serving for more than 42 years.
He became a Royal Malaysian Air Force fighter pilot in 1985, and has flown the A4 Skyhawk, F-5E, MIG-29N, and Sukhoi 30MKM fighter jets.
He assumed the position of Air Force Chief on March 7, 2022, succeeding the retired Tan Sri Ackbal.
