Malaysian singer-songwriter Chen Weiquan's father recently passed away due to acute cerebral hemorrhage, which caused extensive bleeding. Upon receiving the news, Chen immediately returned to Tawau, Sabah with his wife and child to attend the funeral. Choking back tears, he said, “Thank you, Dad, for holding on, waiting for all three siblings to make it home. Dad really waited until every one of us arrived before taking his last breath. I’m truly grateful for Dad’s love.”
He admitted that the hardest part about coming home this time was no longer being able to hear his father's voice, though every corner of the house was filled with memories his father left behind. Deeply moved, Chen Weiquan said, “Up to now, the best thing I’ve ever done was to cover Teresa Teng’s classic song ‘I Only Care About You’ two years ago.” At the time, he invited both parents to appear in the MV, preserving precious moments for them. “We really took a lot of very handsome and beautiful photos.”
The photo of Mr. Chen used during the farewell ceremony was precisely one that was taken during the filming of ‘I Only Care About You’ MV, which allowed Chen Weiquan, in the midst of his immense sorrow, to feel a trace of comfort. “At the very least, I left a really good image of Dad to remember him by.”
