On the 13th, the Trump Administration in the United States designated four groups from Germany, Italy, and Greece as global terrorist organizations, accusing them of being 'violent Antifa movement' (Antifa); this is part of President Trump's crackdown on left-wing activities.
According to reports from Reuters and AFP, U.S. Secretary of State Rubio announced that he has designated the Germany-based 'Anti-Fascist East Organization' as a 'Specially Designated Global Terrorist'; in addition, there are three groups from Greece and Italy. He emphasized that this is to continue Trump's commitment to combating the 'political violence' of the Antifa movement.
Rubio stated that starting from November 20, these groups will be designated as 'foreign terrorist organizations'; he also warned that Washington will target other related groups globally.
The U.S. State Department said that between 2018 and 2023, the 'Anti-Fascist East Organization' carried out multiple attacks within Germany against individuals they identified as 'fascists' or 'right-wing forces.' They were also accused of launching a series of attacks in Budapest, Hungary, in mid-February 2023.
During Trump's tenure from 2017 to 2021, he publicly vowed to investigate the Antifa movement and signed an executive order in September this year, classifying the group as a terrorist organization.
Germany's Foreign Ministry and Interior Ministry have not yet commented on this matter.
In a 2024 report, Germany's domestic intelligence agency identified the 'Anti-Fascist East Organization' as a violent network.
In addition, the United States has also designated Italy's 'Informal Anarchist Federation/International Revolutionary Front,' as well as Greece's 'Armed Proletarian Justice' and 'Revolutionary Class Self-Defense' as terrorist organizations. (News Source: Central News Agency)
