The annual Shanghai-Taipei Twin Cities Forum has finally set its date, with Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an scheduled to visit Shanghai on the 27th and 28th of this month to attend the forum for exchanges.

On the 10th, the Taipei City Government applied to the Mainland Affairs Council. Mayor Chiang Wan-an will go to Shanghai for a two-day, one-night visit on December 27th and 28th to participate in the city-to-city exchanges. This year, the signing of two cooperation memorandums of understanding (MOUs) is expected.

This year, it is Shanghai's turn to host the Twin Cities Forum. Due to cross-strait exchanges cooling down to a low point, the event, originally planned for late September, was postponed because the central government requested amendments to the MOUs. Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an has also several times stated publicly that the planned date is in late December and that the application would be submitted to the Mainland Affairs Council 15 days in advance as required.

It is understood that the date for the Twin Cities Forum has finally been officially confirmed, and it will be held on December 27th and 28th. The usual three-day, two-night schedule has been cut down to two days and one night.
