(Bandar Seri Begawan, 11th) The Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism, through the Tourism Development Department, recently hosted a five-day familiarization tour for 10 golf travel agencies from South Korea.
This familiarization tour, held from August 26 to 30, 2025, continues the positive momentum from the Tourism Development Department’s participation in the Seoul International Travel Fair (SITF) in June 2025. SITF is one of the largest travel trade fairs in South Korea. At SITF, Brunei showcased its golf, leisure, and cultural attractions. This familiarization tour positions Brunei as a highly attractive golf and leisure destination, while also acknowledging that travel agencies are eager to experience Brunei’s rich cultural heritage, cuisine, and natural beauty.
During the program, participants visited Brunei’s main attractions, including Istana Nurul Iman, Jame' Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque, the Royal Regalia Museum, Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque, Kampong Ayer & mangrove tour, Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah 50th Anniversary Park, and Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Complex.
One of the highlights of the itinerary was a full day of golf experience, featuring two rounds of 9 holes at different golf courses.
Although South Korea is still a developing market, it has shown steady growth as a source country for Brunei’s inbound tourism. Brunei’s participation in the 2025 Korea International Travel Fair demonstrates its strategic focus on nurturing this potential. The number of Korean visitors to Brunei increased from 4,671 in 2023 to 8,323 in 2024, and as of July 2025, a total of 4,565 has been recorded. This upward trend reflects the growing awareness and interest among Korean tourists in Brunei as a unique and rich travel destination.
The Korean golf experience tour highlights Brunei’s potential in niche tourism markets such as golf tourism, while also showcasing Brunei’s rich cultural heritage and natural environment. The Tourism Development Department is committed to working closely with Korean partners through targeted promotion, product development, and continued familiarization tours in 2025, ensuring greater market visibility for Brunei’s golf tourism offerings.
