(Kuching, 19th) — The RM450 million Miri Centralized Sewage System (MCSS) Phase 2 project is scheduled to open for tenders in the second quarter of 2026.

Sarawak Deputy Premier and Minister of Public Health, Housing, and Local Government, Dato Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, stated that the design work for the project has been fully completed and is currently in the final stage of tender document preparation.

According to him, the RM750 million Kuching Centralized Sewage System (KCSS) Phase 2 project is now 92.4% complete and is expected to be completed by August 2026.

He noted that, as a large number of key property connections need to be carried out in the later stage of the project, the completion data has been revised from the previous 99.7% to 92.4%.

"The detailed design stage of the KCSS Zone 1 Phase 3 project, costing RM382 million, is currently 85% complete."

Dr Sim disclosed this today during his department's summary at the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly.

He also revealed that the RM650 million Kota Samarahan Centralized Sewage System Phase 1 project is currently in the preliminary design stage.

According to him, the value assessment lab for this project is scheduled for June 2026, with the engineering tender expected to be launched in 2027.

Additionally, he stated that the federal government has finalized the loan agreement for the Bintulu North-South catchment sewage system rationalization project, valued at RM225 million, which is currently in the stage of procuring consultancy services.

At the same time, the federal government has approved the application for the RM4.4 million Assar River Uma Baka sewage system improvement project.

He added that once the loan agreement is finalized, the project will be launched immediately.
