"Shurou, your bridge is about to collapse!"
With the continued box office success of the film "A Letter to Grandma," which has grossed over 1.8 billion RMB (approximately 100 million Malaysian Ringgit), the stone bridge where the main characters meet and fall in love has unexpectedly become a popular check-in spot for tourists.
Located in Xiqi Village, Denggang Town, Rongcheng District, Jieyang City, Guangdong Province, this stone bridge has recently seen a huge influx of movie fans. During the Dragon Boat Festival, many tourists have shown up carrying flags like those in the film and riding bicycles to recreate classic scenes, packing the once-quiet country bridge to the brim. Netizens joked: "Shurou, your bridge is about to collapse!"
"A Letter to Grandma" was entirely shot on location in Shantou, Chaozhou, and Jieyang, featuring arcaded old streets, century-old overseas Chinese residences, thousand-year-old villages, and ancient banyan stone bridges. The strong Chaoshan flavor has become another highlight of the film. As the movie's popularity surges, it has successfully boosted tourism to these filming locations, sparking a wave of "traveling with the movie."

It is understood that this stone bridge crosses the "Tongxi" in Xiqi Village, with a total length of about 50 meters. It was built in 1982 and has a history of more than 40 years. Director Lan Hongchun revealed that during location scouting, the crew visited almost all the remaining stone bridges in the Chaoshan region, ultimately choosing Xiqi Village.
"This place is the best preserved. You can see rice fields by the bridge, and there are no modern buildings in the distance, which is exactly what we needed for the film's sense of period and atmosphere."
One movie has not only reminded countless viewers of their families, but also turned a once low-key rural stone bridge into a new landmark for those searching for the film's memories.
