European Airport Systems Hit by Cyberattack, SIA Activates Manual Boarding

(Singapore, 21st) Several major airports in Europe have had their boarding systems hit by cyberattacks, resulting in some flight delays and cancellations. Singapore Airlines has activated manual boarding procedures at the affected airports, with all flights to and from Europe continuing to operate as normal.
On Saturday (September 20), several European airports suffered network attacks, including Belgium's Brussels Airport, Germany's Berlin Brandenburg Airport, and the United Kingdom's London Heathrow Airport. Multiple flights at Brussels Airport have already been canceled or delayed.
It is reported that due to the hacking of an external service provider that supplies check-in and boarding systems, the automated systems became unavailable, forcing airports to use manual check-in procedures, which disrupted the operation of multiple flights.
In response to inquiries from Lianhe Zaobao, SIA stated that due to system outages at Brussels Airport and London Heathrow Airport, the company has activated manual boarding procedures, and has advised passengers to arrive at the airport earlier to allow extra time for the check-in process.
SIA said it will continue to closely monitor the situation and coordinate with partners, and will adjust flight arrangements if necessary.
The airline also reminds passengers to check the latest flight status through its official website or mobile app, and to update their contact details or subscribe to mobile notification services to receive timely updates on flight information.
