Yao Zhengjing, who once had a relationship with superstar Aaron Kwok (Cheng Cheng), has officially announced her comeback after a 33-year hiatus from the entertainment industry. On the 6th, accompanied by her manager, she completed the signing process to join a new company, marking her official return to showbiz. Industry friends such as Law Lan and Lo Hoi Pang also showed up to support her. Having retired in 1993, she couldn’t hide her excitement as she stepped back into the spotlight, joking: “I’ve been away from this industry for too long, now I consider myself a newcomer!”
Yao Zhengjing plans to develop in various fields such as singing, short dramas, and livestreaming. She admitted she’s never been able to let go of acting and has recently begun working on music. She has already completed the recording of four songs and will soon film music videos. Speaking about relaunching her career as a “rookie,” she jokingly asked, “Really?” and admitted she isn’t a professionally trained singer, so she still needs to work hard on her vocals and breathing, hoping to bring everyone brand-new works.
As for the public’s greatest curiosity—her past relationship with Aaron Kwok—Yao Zhengjing confessed that they have not been in contact for many years, and she has long moved on from their romance 40 years ago. She wouldn’t mind sharing the stage or even working together in the future. She stated, “Why would I mind (being at the same event or even collaborating)? I hardly even remember—those were just puppy love, things from 40 years ago.” She also revealed that earlier, she attended Kwok’s concert in Macau with some friends. “It was great! He’s very hardworking! My friends had tickets and I happened to be in Macau, so I went in for a look.”
Regarding her love life, the 57-year-old Yao Zhengjing admitted she’s been single for many years. Although she did have relationships over the years, those have long ended. She believes there’s no absolute right or wrong in relationships and one shouldn’t force things. “There’s no right or wrong, no one’s to blame. If it’s not suitable, then just part ways.”
