(B.S.B., 22nd) Brunei Legislative Council Speaker Rahman recently paid a courtesy visit to Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong.
During the meeting, both sides expressed their appreciation for the longstanding and strong bilateral relations between Brunei and Singapore in various fields, including economic and defense cooperation. Both parties will also commemorate the 50th anniversary of defense cooperation and the 60th anniversary of the Currency Interchangeability Agreement.
Rahman also congratulated Singapore on assuming the ASEAN chairmanship in 2027. Both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening ASEAN's internal mechanisms, particularly in the areas of food security as well as the resilience of oil and gas supply.
Rahman also expressed gratitude for Singapore’s continued assistance to Brunei, including providing medical services to Bruneian citizens, organizing training courses for Bruneian students in Singapore, and implementing civil servant exchange programs.
At the conclusion of the discussion, both parties agreed to further strengthen the close relations between Brunei and Singapore.
