The two had previously played a pair of cheating lovers in the series "Silver Spoon, Sterling Shackles," where Elena Kong's character cheated on her partner Damien Lau with Ron Ng. Now, their relationship is completely reversed in the new drama, going from lovers to mother and son, leaving Elena Kong in disbelief.
In a recent online interview with Chow Kwok Fung, Elena Kong said that when the producer first invited her to play Ron Ng's mother, her first reaction was: "Huh? Me? In that last series he was my sexual partner, and now I'm playing his mother? Are you serious!" She laughed and admitted, "Isn't it a bit far-fetched? But I want to do it! Actually, he's only a few years younger than me!" Originally, the role of Ron Ng's mother in the new drama was to be played by Maggie Shiu, but due to schedule conflicts, she had to drop out, so Elena Kong stepped in.
Elena Kong said that this role in the drama is the biggest challenge of her acting career, as her character, after killing her husband's mistress, spends 30 years in a mental hospital. She has to switch between three different states: "truly mentally ill," "normal," and "pretending," with huge emotional fluctuations.
