Pop diva Li Wen (CoCo) passed away on July 5th last year, but despite her passing over a year ago, the turmoil continues. Her second sister Li Silin (Nancy) shared a lawyer's letter on Weibo on the 6th, expressing heartbreak over defamatory remarks spread by netizens. She stated, 'This incident has subjected me to massive cyberbullying. These statements have brought me immense harm and pain and have severely damaged my reputation.' Due to a certain netizen continuously spreading insulting and defamatory remarks, she decided to take legal action.
While Li Silin was still healing from the pain of losing her sister, she faced slanderous statements by a netizen on Weibo, accusing her of mistreating her sister and even connecting her sister's death to her. This led to a flood of rumors online, resulting in cyberbullying. Li Silin emphasized that these accusations were groundless and maliciously fabricated lies. The court has delivered a fair judgment, and she took this opportunity to clarify the facts, seeking justice for both her and Li Wen.
After Li Silin sued the netizen, the court ruled that the netizen must apologize and compensate. Within 10 days, the netizen is required to publicly apologize on their Weibo homepage and compensate Li Silin with 20,000 RMB (approximately 12,000 MYR) for emotional distress, along with 20,000 RMB for reasonable legal expenses, totaling 40,000 RMB (approximately 24,000 MYR).
