A Russian woman missed the Malaysian dish “soy sauce fried egg” cooked by her Malaysian friend during her travels in Malaysia, and this sparked a heated response from Malaysian netizens who said this is a lazy dish every Malaysian knows how to make.
A Russian woman @Ella’s Travels uploaded a video on TikTok, expressing her longing for soy sauce fried egg. Since she couldn’t find this dish outside of Malaysia, she even went so far as to show a cooking video of soy sauce fried egg at a restaurant in Indonesia and asked the restaurant to make it for her.
“When I was in Malaysia, a friend made me soy sauce fried egg. I really loved this dish—it’s my favorite food. But ever since I left Malaysia, I haven’t found this dish again.”
“Today I’m at an Indonesian restaurant. I showed them the video and asked them to make this dish for me, so today I’m eating soy sauce fried egg in Indonesia,” she said in the video.
The video immediately drew many responses, especially from Malaysian netizens. Some Malaysian netizens jokingly “questioned” the friend who cooked the dish for her, saying soy sauce fried egg is a lazy dish rarely served to guests, and is usually made just for oneself.
However, netizens also admitted that this is the most delicious dish when you’re hungry.
