(Kuching, 10th) A new development has emerged in the 250 million ringgit construction project bribery case. A company director holding the title 'Datuk Seri' was taken by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to the Kuching Magistrate's Court today to apply for remand to assist in the investigation of this case.
The 52-year-old male suspect was approved by the magistrate to be remanded for 5 days until the 15th, with his representing lawyers being Tan Wen Da and Lin Zuo Lu.
It is reported that the MACC arrested the suspect at 6:35 PM last night, and the case will be investigated under Section 17(a) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009.
The MACC chairman Tan Sri Azam Baki stated yesterday that after investigating this case, the MACC has frozen 25 bank accounts and arrested a senior civil servant and a company director holding the title 'Datuk'.
Furthermore, 21 people have been summoned to give their statements one after another.
