Low-Cost Teh Collaborates with Mark Lee for New Year Film "Kan Ni Teahouse" Premiering Boldly Across Malaysia on January 29

Supported by Singapore’s “Comedy King” Mark Lee, Malaysia’s renowned online creative team Low-Cost Teh (Dissy) ventures into the film industry with their first New Year film "Kan Ni Teahouse," officially premiering across Malaysia on January 29, 2025, the first day of the Lunar New Year. 

The 2025 New Year film "Kan Ni Teahouse" is not just a story about a "teahouse," but one that relates to everyone. With a teahouse as the backdrop, the film narrates how a teahouse owner who once ran a thriving business finds his shop becoming a controversial hotspot due to the visit of an internet celebrity. The business suffers a major setback, caught in a whirlwind of "cyberbullying," which further evokes genuine interactions and deep connections between characters.

Known for their relatable, humorous, and innovative online shorts, Low-Cost Teh is making a significant breakthrough as they transition from the web to the big screen. The highly cooperative Low-Cost Teh team poured immense passion and creativity into this project. Leveraging their many years of creative experience and perseverance, they took on the challenge of having an all-“internet celebrity team” handle both the production and performances to showcase Low-Cost Teh’s unique creativity. They are set to seize a prominent position among New Year films, injecting new vitality into Malaysia’s film industry.

Although it's Low-Cost Teh’s first step into the movie industry, they have approached the preparation and presentation of the film with great precision. The actors underwent intensive training on running a teahouse beforehand and even invited famed actors Mark Lee and Wilson Chen to coach and refine their acting skills.

In one continuous take scene featuring a heated argument between Sang Biao and Anthony, the actors took over 40 takes to “achieve a satisfactory performance,” where they reached a point of emotional breakdown, seeking solace in tears, displaying their immense investment and resolution. The team is determined to deliver a sincere and outstanding debut film.

The 2025 New Year film "Kan Ni Teahouse" is produced by and starring Low-Cost Teh, directed by Lau Chong (Chang Wei Chen), and co-produced by Mark Lee, Caroll Tai, VANZO, and TMC Aesthetic Academy. Lead actors include Low-Cost Teh artists Sang Biao and Yuriko, with DaHee, Anthony, Adeline Wong Chu Lin, Zuvia, Yuniyce, Michie, Uncle K, Kim Chan, Mok Man, Wong Chi Koon, Pang ZuDi, Wilson Chen, DiYang, and special appearance by Jaspers. Mark Lee makes a special appearance. The film is boldly set to premiere in theaters across Malaysia on January 29.
