The Sarawak state government intends to take over MASwings, Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Hasbi Habibollah revealed, with negotiations between the Sarawak government and Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) nearing completion.

“The negotiations have entered the final stretch.”

He said this during the parliamentary Q&A session, responding to Batu Danau MP Mohd Shafizan's question.

He believes that once the Sarawak government takes over MASwings, the issue of insufficient aircraft will be resolved.

Earlier, he also mentioned that domestic airlines have provided 1.42 million seats for passengers traveling to Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan.

“As of October this year, 1.42 million seats have been made available. Malaysia Airlines Berhad had reduced 95,906 seats from August to December this year, but AirAsia, AirAsia X, and Batik Air have added 139,578 seats to compensate for the shortfall.”
