(Kuala Lumpur, 25th) The ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting (AMM) will be held on Sunday, focusing on promoting the construction of the ASEAN Community, and the ASEAN Secretariat will report on the progress of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC).
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs statement pointed out that the meeting will be chaired by Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hassan.
“The meeting will bring together foreign ministers from ASEAN member countries to jointly discuss key regional and international issues, in line with the theme of 'Inclusion and Sustainability' proposed during Malaysia's ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025.
“The ministers will also discuss follow-up actions after reviewing the five-point consensus on the Myanmar issue led by ASEAN leaders under Malaysia's leadership.”
In addition, the meeting will explore cooperation between ASEAN and its dialogue partners according to the external relations agenda, and discuss the formal accession of Timor-Leste to ASEAN, including the guidelines for Timor-Leste's accession to ASEAN legal documents within the ASEAN Foreign Ministers' framework.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs mentioned that the outcomes of the meeting will form the basis for the 46th ASEAN Summit, the 2nd ASEAN-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit, and the ASEAN-GCC-China Summit discussions to be held next week. These meetings will be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) on May 26th and 27th.
