Explosion Occurs on Thai-Cambodian Border, One Thai Soldier Injured

The 2nd Army Region of Thailand issued a statement on the 6th, saying that at about 7:25 a.m. that day, an explosion occurred in the border area of Ubon Ratchathani Province, Thailand, injuring one Thai soldier with shrapnel to his right arm. The injured soldier is not in life-threatening condition.

The statement pointed out that all units have been instructed to further heighten their vigilance during missions to ensure the safety of soldiers and local residents.

The Thai military stated that the Cambodian side has contacted the Thai military and claimed that they had "no intention to open fire on Thai territory," adding that "this incident was caused by an operational error on the part of Cambodian personnel."

The statement pointed out, "The Thai troops in the area have warned the Cambodian forces to stay alert and emphasized that if similar incidents happen again, Thailand may need to take retaliatory action."

Thai Prime Minister Anutin stated that the Thai government has lodged a protest with Cambodia.

He told reporters in Bangkok: "The military informed us this incident was an accident, but we are seeking clarification on responsibility."

Earlier, the 2nd Army Region of Thailand posted on social media that the Cambodian side violated the ceasefire declaration and fired a grenade in the border area at about 7:25 a.m. that day, injuring a Thai soldier.
