David Roach, lead singer of American heavy metal rock band “Junkyard,” peacefully passed away on the 2nd at the age of 59. He had been battling aggressive squamous cell carcinoma. Although his condition once stabilized, he married his longtime girlfriend just two weeks ago. Shortly after their wedding, he passed away, shocking the music world.
Since being diagnosed with cancer, David remained optimistic and actively underwent treatment. On July 20, his condition reportedly worsened, but he insisted on holding the wedding during this time. On the wedding day, David sat in a wheelchair, appearing frail yet still beaming with a smile. However, on the 2nd, he tragically lost his battle with the disease. The band posted a tribute on their official social media: “Last night, David peacefully passed away at home in his wife’s arms. He was not only a talented musician, but also a deeply loving father, husband, and brother.”
Junkyard was formed in 1987 and quickly rose to fame with their unique heavy metal style. Although they went on hiatus at one point, the band resumed performances in 2000. In 2017, they released a long-awaited album after a 20-year gap, once again sparking enthusiastic responses.
