Regarding the issue of misuse of the halal logo, Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Datuk Amizan stated that they would consider increasing fines to enhance people's awareness of the halal certification logo.
He responded this way today (16th) during a media interview at the University of Technology MARA in Shah Alam, Selangor, following a suggestion from the Federal Territories Deputy Religious Director Jamari.
He explained that this is to reinforce people's understanding of the importance of the halal logo and the need to comply with regulations.
Jamari suggested that the Ministry of Domestic Trade should work with the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia to assess increasing fines for the misuse of halal certificates.
In response, Amizan said they would study and consider constructive suggestions and opinions.
He emphasized their commitment to collaborating with the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) and the Islamic Religious Departments of the states to address this matter.
