(Miri, 19th) The second phase of the "Flavors Across Twin Cities" Guangzhou Tour was recently held in Guangzhou, where internet celebrities, self-media figures, and online influencers from both East and West Malaysia gathered. Through food, culture, and tourism exchanges, they deeply explored the charm of Guangzhou city and further promoted people-to-people exchanges between China and Malaysia.
Wu Yi Min, Deputy Editor-in-Chief and Manager of the Klang Valley Office of "Kwong Wah Yit Poh", said in his speech at the event that the first phase of "Flavors Across Twin Cities," with "Cantonese Aromas" as the bond, attracted nearly 40 Malaysian friends to visit Guangzhou, while the second phase saw participation from 15 Malaysian online influencers.
He added that during the five-day trip, participants would explore Guangzhou's food, historical culture, technological innovation, and rural revitalization, and would use the internet and social media to share Guangzhou's fascinating stories and Lingnan culture with more Malaysians.
Wu Yi Min pointed out that Penang and Guangzhou share deep historical roots. Centuries ago, Lingnan ancestors headed south to the Nanyang, bringing Cantonese cuisine skills to Penang where they took root and flourished. Thus, this trip to Guangzhou is not just a "journey of flavors," but also a "journey of roots."
He believes that food is a universal language that needs no translation and can bring people from different countries closer together. He looks forward to both sides continuing to use food as a medium and cultural tourism as a bridge, deepening China-Malaysia exchanges in culture and tourism.
On another note, Sun Yongxin, founder of XinChi Travel and chairman of the Malaysian Internet Celebrity Association, said that for the second season, influencers and bloggers from East Malaysia were specially invited, hoping that through their cameras and influence, they would introduce Guangzhou's cuisine, culture, and city stories to the Malaysian public.
He added that East Malaysia also boasts a rich and diverse cultural and food tradition, and he looks forward to inviting Guangzhou self-media figures and travel bloggers to visit East Malaysia in the future, launching two-way promotions and exchanges, so that people from both areas can better understand each other's culture and tourism resources.
Sun Yongxin expressed hope that "Flavors Across Twin Cities" would continue to serve as a platform to discover cooperation opportunities in tourism, culture, and self-media between China and Malaysia, making food and culture important bonds to promote grassroots friendship between the two countries.
