Philippine Military Denounces Navy Standoff Footage as Fake News, Says It Slanders Malaysia-Philippines Relations and Stirs Up Tension

(Manila, 13th) The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has strongly refuted a video circulating on YouTube that claims a standoff occurred between the Philippine and Malaysian navies, calling it "blatant fake news."

In a statement released Tuesday night, the military stated that the 12-minute video fabricated a scenario in which the two countries' navies confronted each other over a territorial dispute, saying this was completely unfounded.

"Such fictional events are aimed at undermining the six decades of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and the Philippines, eroding public trust in the military, and fueling unnecessary tensions," the statement emphasized.

The military warned that disinformation not only threatens regional peace and stability, but may also be used to serve specific political or strategic interests.

"The Armed Forces of the Philippines will continue to uphold transparency and truth, steadfastly safeguarding national interests. The truth is our strongest defense," the statement said.
