(Ukraine, 25th) Ukraine celebrated the 34th anniversary of its separation from the Soviet Union on the 24th, with U.S. President Trump, U.K. King Charles III, and other world leaders offering their congratulations.
In his letter, Trump praised Ukraine's courage and stated that America believes in Ukraine's future as an independent country. Ukrainian President Zelensky shared Trump's letter on social platform X, emphasizing that as long as Ukraine and the U.S. work together, the war can be ended and true peace created. Zelensky also revealed that all progress regarding establishing post-war security guarantees for Ukraine will be ready in the coming days.
Trump's letter read: "The Ukrainian people possess an indomitable spirit, and your nation's courage inspires many. On this important holiday, please know that America respects your fight, remembers your sacrifices, and believes in your future as an independent country."
"Now is the time to end this senseless killing. The United States supports achieving a solution through negotiations to realize lasting peace, end the bloody conflict, and uphold Ukraine's sovereignty and dignity."
Additionally, Zelensky addressed the Ukrainian people, stating that the country will still be celebrating Independence Day a hundred years from now: "Ukraine will be stronger and more dignified. Ukraine will not wait for gestures of goodwill but will, by its own will, achieve everything we need."
He emphasized: "Today's Ukraine will never again bear the shame in history that Russians called 'compromise.' We need a just peace, and our future will be decided by ourselves." When discussing the progress of peace plans, Zelensky reiterated that Ukraine has yet to achieve complete victory, "but will absolutely not fail."
Canadian Prime Minister Carney visited Ukraine for the first time in an official capacity as a "special guest."
In addition to Carney, Trump's special envoy for Ukrainian affairs, Kellogg, attended the ceremony. This was Kellogg's first visit to Ukraine since taking office in March this year. Zelensky awarded Kellogg the National Honor Medal.
