The Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council of Mainland China has announced that, in order to further expand openness, the scope of mainland ports where Taiwanese people can apply for entry permits on arrival will be expanded to all eligible ports. Taiwanese residents can apply for a one-time valid Mainland Travel Permit (Tai Bao Zheng) upon arrival for entry.
Spokesperson Chen Binhua of the Taiwan Affairs Office stated at a regular press conference on the 15th that, to further expand openness and make travel to the mainland more convenient and secure for Taiwanese people, relevant departments plan to soon expand the range of ports for on-arrival permit applications for Taiwanese residents to all qualified ports.
Chen Binhua explained that Taiwanese individuals, whether traveling directly from Taiwan to the mainland, or via Hong Kong, Macao, or other countries, may apply for a one-time valid entry permit at these ports upon arrival. The details of this policy and the list of eligible ports for on-arrival permit applications will be released in due course by the relevant departments.
Chen Binhua stated: "Both sides of the Strait are one family. Our compatriots in Taiwan have always been our flesh and blood. We have always valued the opinions and suggestions of Taiwanese compatriots. The introduction of this policy is aimed at creating even more open, convenient, and safe conditions for Taiwanese residents traveling to the mainland, further promoting cross-strait exchanges and cooperation, and supporting the steady and long-term development of peaceful and integrated cross-strait relations, in order to uphold the common interests and well-being of compatriots on both sides of the Strait."
