Choi Siwon, a member of South Korean idol group 'Super Junior,' has in the past posted controversial comments on social media about sensitive topics such as politics and current affairs. On the 19th, Siwon suddenly posted: 'Evil will surely perish, total collapse,' in what is suspected to be a response to former South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol's sentencing to life imprisonment. This has enraged netizens, who are now demanding Siwon withdraw from the group!

Yoon Suk-yeol was sentenced to life imprisonment (life sentence) by the Seoul Central District Court on the 19th for 'treason,' with an appeal not ruled out. Unexpectedly, after the news broke, Choi Siwon posted on his social media a black-background, white text message: 'Evil will surely perish, total collapse!' The first part means 'if there is no justice, there will be ruin,' while the second refers to an organization or entity collapsing beyond repair. This post has been interpreted as hinting at his political stance.

After Siwon made the post, his social platforms became a battleground for two camps of netizens. Supporters of Yoon Suk-yeol praised him as 'Patriotic Siwon,' excitedly stating: 'It’s not easy to speak out, that’s admirable!' However, negative reactions soon followed, with some netizens retorting, 'If you want to live your own life, leave the group and live as you wish,' and 'Please leave the group,' which triggered a wave of malicious attacks.

In response, his management company 'SM Entertainment' issued a statement through the online reporting center 'KWANGYA 119,' emphasizing that they will collect evidence and file lawsuits against accounts attacking Siwon and posts spreading malicious or false information on social media. However, SM Entertainment did not further address Siwon's political stance, which angered some people, who threatened to boycott SJ. As of now, Siwon himself has not yet responded.#
