Miri City Council Holds Series of Events, Yu Xiao Shan Encourages Citizens to Contribute Together

(Miri, 25th) Miri Mayor Adam Yii Siew Sang stated that the rooftop of the Miri City Council Building, now open for visits, has become a popular spot to view the sunset and full panorama of Miri. In October 2024, a total of 1,210 tourists visited.

He mentioned at a press conference this morning after chairing the 11th monthly meeting of the 2024 City Council held in the council building's meeting room, that the rooftop is open from Monday to Sunday (including public holidays), from 5 PM to 7 PM.

Adam Yii Siew Sang further said that this year's 12th City Council Open Day will be held on December 6th (Friday) from 9 AM to 10 AM at Old Man Street in Miri, providing the public an opportunity for face-to-face communication with council members. Details will be confirmed closer to the event date.

Additionally, the 2024 Miri Mayor Award Ceremony will be held on December 8th, 2024 (Sunday) at 6 PM, at the Eastern Pavilion banquet hall of Eastwood Golf Club.

The Mayor Award aims to honor individuals and organizations that have made outstanding contributions to Miri’s development and community. This year, there are a total of 43 nominations, with 22 winners to receive this honor.

Moreover, the 2024 Borneo Jazz Festival will be held from November 29th to December 1st, at the Musical Corridor of Eastwood Golf Club. The festival will feature performances from well-known jazz artists such as Sheila Majid, Rio Sidik, and Gerhana SkaCinta, attracting a large audience. Adam Yii Siew Sang also mentioned that Miri Car-Free Day is scheduled for December 14th (Saturday) from 7:30 AM to 10 AM, at the Wireless Walk located on Jalan North Yu Cheng. The Car-Free Day event aims to promote an eco-friendly lifestyle, urging citizens to reduce carbon emissions and build a greener Miri.

Looking into the future, to build a better homeland. Adam Yii Siew Sang called on citizens during the meeting to actively participate in events organized by the City Council and jointly promote Miri's sustainable development.
