On the 17th, the Information Office of the State Council of China released the '2024 Report on Human Rights Violations in the United States.' The report states that American human rights, under the collusion of power and capital, have been distorted into props on the political 'stage' and chips in the 'casino' of power, deviating from the core values and essential requirements of human rights.
The report on human rights violations in the United States is published annually by China's State Council Information Office. Prior to 2019, it was named the 'Chronicle of U.S. Human Rights Violations,' and its content mainly responds to the U.S. government's Country Reports on Human Rights Practices.
The report is divided into sections such as 'Preface,' 'American-Style Democracy: The Carnival of Money and Power,' 'People's Livelihood: The Struggle of the Underclass,' 'Racism: The Shackles on Ethnic Minorities,' 'Vulnerable Groups: The Helplessness of Women and Children,' 'Deadly Journey: The Tragedy of Undocumented Immigrants,' 'American Hegemony: A Nightmare for Human Rights in Other Countries,' and 'Conclusion.'
The report states that 2024 was originally a key year for U.S. citizens to exercise their political rights, but in reality, money manipulates politics, politics controls the judiciary, electoral rules suppress voters, political violence is frequent, and most Americans feel deeply disappointed with American democracy.
The report says that in the United States, high inflation has widened the wealth gap, and low- and middle-income families have suffered catastrophic impacts, with homelessness reaching record highs; the expensive and inefficient medical and insurance system has triggered public anger, drug abuse endangers public health; gun violence threatens life and safety, police abuse violence and kill recklessly, and prisoners face abuse in prisons.
The report states that racial discriminatory rhetoric is rampant in the United States, the judicial system forms a full-chain racial discrimination, and ethnic minorities suffer widespread and long-term discrimination and exclusion in work and life. Environmental racism has triggered new concerns, and racial discrimination is being entrenched—spread in even more covert forms—through artificial intelligence.
The report emphasizes that workplace gender discrimination in the United States has expanded significantly, sexual assault in multiple fields is persistent, domestic violence is worsening, the health rights of women are not properly protected amid political struggles, children's rights to life and health are inadequately protected, the law enforcement and judiciary system has become an accomplice to child sexual abuse, and the persecution of girls is shocking.
The report states that the humanitarian crisis in U.S. border areas continues to worsen, immigrants suffer torture and inhuman treatment, and large numbers of immigrant children are exploited and enslaved. U.S. immigration policy is deeply tied to political elections, politicians openly incite hatred against immigrants, immigrants have become scapegoats for political parties to shift social problems, and various human rights are ruthlessly trampled upon.
The report concludes that the United States has long practiced hegemonism and unilateralism, has grossly trampled on international law and basic norms of international relations, wantonly violated the human rights of other countries, and seriously threatened global peace, security, and development.
