Typhoon 'Butterfly' Causes Heavy Rainfall in Multiple Areas of Guangxi, 11 Rivers Experience Flooding Above Warning Levels

Due to the influence of Typhoon 'Butterfly', many areas in Guangxi have experienced heavy rainfall in the past few days.
According to a report by China News Service, the Hydrology Center of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region introduced on Sunday (June 15) that from 8 AM Saturday (June 14) to 8 AM Sunday, most areas of Yulin, Wuzhou, Qinzhou, Beihai, Hezhou, and Guigang cities in Guangxi experienced moderate to heavy rain, with some areas experiencing heavy rain to extremely heavy rain.
The heavy rainfall caused flooding above warning levels from 0.02 meters to 2.71 meters at 18 hydrological stations on 11 rivers, including the upper reaches of the Beiliu River, Yangmei River, Huanghua River, South Flowing River, and Jiuzhou River.
In particular, the rainfall in Ling Mountain Town, Rong County, Yulin City reached 401.5 millimeters in 24 hours, and in Nandu Town, Cangwu City, Wuzhou, it reached 257 millimeters within 24 hours. The section of Beiliu River in Longsheng Town, Beiliu City, and tributaries like Liuma River and Lijiang, tributaries of the South Flowing River, experienced the highest flooding recorded since the stations were established.
The Guangxi Hydrology Center predicts that in the next 24 hours, the lower reaches of Beiliu River, South Flowing River, the main stream of the West River, the upper reaches of Hejiang, and the lower reaches of Guijiang will rise by 1 to 3 meters. Beiliu River will experience its first numbered flood in 2025, exceeding critical levels throughout. Some small and medium-sized rivers in cities like Wuzhou and Hezhou will experience flooding above warning levels.
Currently, Typhoon 'Butterfly' has weakened to a tropical depression. The Guangxi Maritime Bureau has adjusted the typhoon emergency response level from Level I to Level III.
