"Xinjiang Goddess" Dilraba Dilmurat rose to fame 10 years ago with her role as “Gao Wen” in the TV drama “Diamond Lover.” Recently, on the variety show “Start Puzzle 3,” she revealed that she almost got replaced back then, which even made it to trending topics. The producer of the show posted on Weibo revealing the behind-the-scenes story about the casting, and also mentioned that the lead actress Tang Yan joined the crew one month late.
The producer of “Diamond Lover,” Liu Yang, seeing that “Gao Wen” from 10 years ago could still make it to trending topics, revealed that the show had already started shooting for a week when a behind-the-scenes executive wanted to replace Dilraba. He convened a meeting with the crew to help keep her, stating that the behind-the-scenes situation was more dramatic than the script itself and praised Dilraba for becoming a versatile and renowned artist over the years, expressing his gratification.
Liu Yang revealed that originally a top-tier actress was supposed to play “Gao Wen,” but her agent refused on account of not wanting to play a supporting role. Later, the script was rewritten, and they planned to cast a newcomer. The screenwriter recommended Dilraba at that time, and Liu Yang decided immediately upon seeing her. However, since the male and female leads had not been finalized yet, Liu Yang told Dilraba that as long as she was willing to wait, the role of “Gao Wen” would be hers. She waited for half a year, during which she didn't dare take other roles, afraid of missing out on this one.

Liu Yang also revealed that the lead actress, Tang Yan, joined the crew one month late. During this month, the scriptwriter worked hard to revise the script, adding a lot of scenes for “Gao Wen.” By the middle of the shooting, Dilraba had fully embodied the character, and the whole crew became her fans. Tang Yan's fans quickly dug up a post from December 2014 by Tang Yan's studio on Weibo, stating that Tang Yan was filming a movie in Dunhuang and was expected to join the “Diamond Lover” crew in January 2015. They exclaimed, “Fortunately, Tang Yan's studio reported it back then.” Later, Tang Yan’s studio issued a statement clarifying that “Tang Yan’s joining time was prearranged with the crew and was on time, with no delay involved.”
