Rafizi: Malicious Parties Target My Wife and Child in Attempt to Stop My 'Digging for Info'

Former Economy Minister Datuk Seri Rafizi suspects that the attack on his son is related to his meeting last week with a group of whistleblowers involved in a scandal, believing that someone is trying to target his wife and child in order to effectively deter him.

"Last week, I met with a group of whistleblowers regarding a scandal. I feel that those behind this case want to silence me, to make me stop investigating."

He said during a press conference at the parliamentary media room on Thursday (14th) that, given his personality, once he starts an investigation, he will keep "digging for info" endlessly.

Rafizi said that in the past, before disclosing any scandal to the public, he would usually spend three to four months quietly investigating and gathering evidence, and after making revelations, more new information would follow.

"But I have never received any threats, not until now. This time, my wife received intimidation."

He has never received any threats or intimidation. He has also experienced things like losing his position and being detained. Perhaps the other party thinks the best way to influence him is to go after his wife or son.

He also said that in the past month or two, he had mentioned some issues that had become topics of scandal. "Naturally, I think of the topics I touched on before. Someone wants me to be quiet."

However, Rafizi said this attack would not change him, but he hopes that the authorities will conduct a thorough investigation. To his knowledge, the police have begun an investigation.

But from a security perspective, they will enhance their safety measures; he emphasized that he is a person who highly values privacy and believes that being a politician is just a job, rarely bringing his wife into the public eye so that they can live normal lives.

"I even go running alone, but after this incident, we have to accept that some things must change and security must be strengthened."
