As the Chinese New Year approaches, the fire department urges road users to exercise extra caution when passing through two side wind areas on the Seremban North-South Highway!

Negeri Sembilan Fire and Rescue Department Assistant Director Mohamad Faiz Muin pointed this out today while attending the launch of the Chinese New Year public awareness and safety campaign.

He said the two locations are from the 222 km mark at the Malacca border to the Senawang Rest Area (Hentian Senawang), and from the 267 km mark in Ainsdale to Seri Putra.

“These two areas are prone to traffic accidents due to side winds and negligence on the part of road users.”

“Therefore, drivers need to exercise extra caution and vigilance, especially during festive seasons when there will be many cars.”

He stated that 150 personnel and 26 vehicles will be on standby during the Chinese New Year readiness operation (Ops Siaga Raya) from January 28 to February 2.

He added that a vehicle will be stationed at the Pedas toll plaza and the fire department's rapid response team will patrol the highway leading to Rembau to ensure traffic conditions are under control.

At the same time, he also urged the public who are returning home and those away for extended periods to switch off all unused electrical appliances before leaving. Ensure that the power to appliances with fire hazard risks, especially lights, fans, and water filters, is turned off to prevent any unwanted accidents.
