Wang Yi, member of the CCP Political Bureau and Director of the Central Foreign Affairs Office, said during a meeting with Indian National Security Advisor Doval that both sides should work together to promote the gradual restoration of exchanges in various fields between China and India, advance exchanges and cooperation in an orderly manner, and maintain peace and tranquility along the border. Therefore, the China-India border issue should be placed in a proper position to avoid impacting the overall situation of bilateral relations.

At Doval's invitation, Wang Yi attended the 16th BRICS National Security Advisers' Meeting held in India from June 22 to 23.

According to the website of China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Wang Yi met with Doval in New Delhi on Monday.

Wang Yi stated that under the joint guidance of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Indian Prime Minister Modi, China-India relations are gradually emerging from a downturn and returning to the track of recovery and improvement. The two leaders have agreed that China and India are partners, not competitors, which has formed the most important strategic consensus between the two sides, providing important impetus and strategic guarantee for the healthy and stable development of China-India relations.

He pointed out that as the two most populous major economies, China and India must look at their bilateral relationship from a long-term perspective, and also promote cooperation between the two countries from a global perspective. Currently, the Global South, including China and India, is collectively rising, and the BRICS mechanism, as the vanguard of the Global South, should actively advocate and promote the process of multipolarization, safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of developing countries, and promote the international order to move in a just and reasonable direction.

Wang Yi said that with the joint efforts of both sides, exchanges in various fields between China and India are gradually recovering, cooperation and exchange are advancing in an orderly manner, and the border is generally peaceful and tranquil. These achievements are hard-won and should be cherished.

He stated that the two countries should respect each other's core interests, properly handle sensitive issues, place the China-India border issue in a proper position, and avoid affecting the overall situation of bilateral relations. Efforts should be made to accelerate the restoration of dialogue mechanisms and promote exchanges in trade, finance, law enforcement, media, and other fields. Both sides should actively guide all sectors of society toward correct perceptions, creating a strong public and social foundation for improving bilateral relations.
