China and Thailand will hold the "Strike-2026" army joint training in the middle to late May, focusing on joint counter-terrorism operations in mountain and jungle environments.
According to the official "Defense Ministry Release" WeChat account, Jiang Bin, Deputy Director of the News Bureau of China's Ministry of National Defense and spokesperson for the ministry, released information regarding recent military matters on Saturday afternoon (May 9). He said that in the middle to late May, the China-Thailand "Strike-2026" army joint training will be held in Thailand.
Jiang Bin stated that this joint training focuses on joint counter-terrorism in mountain and jungle terrain. The two sides will be mixed into integrated units for training on battlefield first aid, unmanned equipment operation, live-fire shooting, and other subjects.
Jiang Bin also said that this is the eighth time the two countries’ armies have held this series of joint trainings, aiming to continuously deepen bilateral friendship and cooperation and improve joint counter-terrorism operational capabilities.
The last joint training in this series between China and Thailand was held in October 2024 in Kunming, Yunnan, China, and also focused on joint counter-terrorism operations.
According to Xinhua News Agency, when Chinese Defense Minister Dong Jun met with Thailand's Supreme Commander Songwit in May last year, Dong said that China is willing to further enhance cooperation with Thailand in areas such as joint training and personnel training.
