(Bandar Seri Begawan, 5th) Chen Shaochun, Chinese Ambassador-designate to Brunei, expressed that a "human-machine collaboration" not only added technological highlights to the Hari Raya celebration, but also vividly showcased the results of the development of China's new quality productive forces, and presented an innovative footnote for the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Brunei.
At the recently held Sultan Foundation's Hari Raya Celebration, an embodied intelligent robot from China performed alongside teachers and students, showcasing a dance performance that merged technology and art, and presented a unique visual feast for the Sultan of Brunei and all the guests. This event also became a bright spot for friendly exchange between the two countries.
Chen Shaochun pointed out that this was the first time China’s embodied intelligent robots had come to Brunei to showcase, at close range, China's latest achievements in the field of new quality productive forces. The robots' coordinated stage performance and artistic beauty embodied China's long-term accumulation in key technologies such as core algorithms, precise sensing, and control systems, and concretely reflected efforts to promote high-quality economic development.
He stated that at present, China is accelerating the construction of a modern industrial system led by technological innovation, and continually achieving breakthroughs from top-level design to practical applications. Sales and production of new energy vehicles have ranked first globally for 11 consecutive years; rapid advancements are taking place in artificial intelligence large models like DeepSeek and Seedance, as well as in unmanned aerial vehicles, the Internet of Things, robotics, and other fields. China is moving from being the "world's factory" towards being an "innovation source", with increasingly diverse development drivers.
Chen Shaochun further stated that this year marks the beginning of China's 15th Five-Year Plan. The "15th Five-Year Plan" clearly proposes to enhance the level of technological self-reliance and self-strengthening, and regards it as an important strategic task to promote new quality productive forces. In the future, China will continue to intensify efforts in basic research, breakthroughs in key core technologies, and innovation system construction, striving to achieve a series of globally influential scientific and technological achievements.
"In the next five years, the overall efficiency of China's national innovation system will be significantly improved. An integrated development pattern of education, science, and talent will be basically formed, the capacity for basic research and original innovation will be greatly strengthened, rapid breakthroughs will be made in key core technologies in major fields, a number of important original, iconic, and leading scientific and technological achievements will be produced, and the number of fields in which China keeps pace with or leads the world will increase markedly."
He stated that scientific and technological innovation has never been achieved behind closed doors, but through mutual collaboration and win-win cooperation. President Xi Jinping emphasized: "The rougher the wind and waves, the more we should paddle together in the same boat." In the face of headwinds such as unilateralism and protectionism, China, as the world's most important force for peace, stability, and justice, always adheres to a high-level of openness, taking into account both its own needs and the world's expectations. While pursuing its own scientific and technological progress, it actively integrates into the global innovation network, strengthens exchange and cooperation with countries around the world in fields such as scientific and technological innovation, digital economy, and green development, provides more public goods to the world, and makes greater contributions to world science, technology, and economic development.
He emphasized that China always places its neighbors at the top of the overall diplomatic agenda. President Xi Jinping has repeatedly referred to the Chinese proverb, "Good neighbors wish each other well," and proposed that China and its neighboring countries should uphold the original aspiration of mutual trust and support. China is willing to work hand in hand with neighboring countries including Brunei, to deeply advance the alignment of the "Belt and Road" initiative with Brunei's "Vision 2035" and other development strategies of surrounding countries, actively carry out cooperation on new quality productive forces, deepen talent exchange and capacity building, and create new highlights in areas such as green energy, smart ports, and digital healthcare. This aims to allow China's scientific and technological innovation and development to benefit more people in neighboring countries, and jointly write a new chapter of a China-Brunei and regional community with a shared future, driven by innovation and mutual benefit.
