On Saturday (May 9), the Russian Embassy in China’s capital Beijing held an "Immortal Regiment" memorial parade. In addition to Russian Ambassador to China Morgulov, Belarusian Ambassador to China Chervyakov and Bulgarian Ambassador to China Tekhov also participated in the event.

According to reports from Sputnik News Agency, to commemorate the 81st anniversary of the Soviet Union's victory in the Great Patriotic War, the Immortal Regiment memorial parade was held at the Russian Embassy in China on Saturday. Morgulov attended the event and marched together with the parade team. Chervyakov and Tekhov also participated.

According to the report, Chinese and Russian people held portraits of their ancestors, paid tribute to the heroes who sacrificed their lives in the anti-fascist war, and together expressed their shared desire to remember history and maintain peace.

Meanwhile, Uljumtseva, the head of the Russian Cultural Center in Beijing, said that the Beijing Russian Cultural Center will hold another Immortal Regiment event in September, which will be dedicated especially to those Soviet soldiers who participated in liberating China from Japanese invaders.

She said it would be best to hold the event on September 3, as that day marks China’s commemoration of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.
The Immortal Regiment parade was initiated by three Russian journalists in 2012, mainly to commemorate soldiers who died in World War II. This event was first held in Beijing in 2016.
