(Miri, 19th) The Miri Zhao'an Association will hold its annual general meeting on New Year's Day 2025, January 1st (Wednesday) at 9 a.m. at the Xu Yaodong Conference Room, located on the second floor of the association's Zhao'an Building (LOT2788 LORONG 9, KROKOP MIRI).
Simultaneously, at 10 a.m., there will be a celebration of the New Year's Day 2025 and the awarding of scholarships to members' children in the Datuk Xu Chunsheng Grand Hall. The education group of the association is now accepting applications for children's academic scholarships and written proposals from members. The deadline is December 12th (Thursday) at 5 p.m., and late submissions will not be entertained.
Moreover, the Miri Zhao'an Association Education Fund is now open for applications for financial aid scholarships for members' children. Any member's child meeting the following conditions can apply: (1) Current junior high/high school student (must provide academic results from the first half of this year); (2) Acceptance into a secondary school/university (must provide admission proof); (3) Financially disadvantaged and academically excellent. Applicants must fill out an application form issued by the Miri Zhao'an Association and include a copy of their results as well as two half-body close-up photos. Additionally, the applicants (awardees) must attend in person or send a representative to receive the award on the day of the event; afterwards, it will not be entertained.
After the general meeting and the New Year celebration, as well as the scholarship awarding ceremony, there will be a buffet at 11:30 a.m. for attendees. Interested participants must register with the Secretariat to count attendance numbers.

The details of the scholarship are as follows:
(1) Preschool/Kindergarten Group: Must have achieved 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place in any semester of 2024. Alternatively, achieved all A's in Chinese, Malay, English, Arithmetic, and Moral, or an overall average above 85 points, are eligible to apply.
(2) Primary Group: Grades 1-3 evaluation exam results in Chinese, Malay, English, Mathematics, and Science require at least four 4-pointers and one 3-pointer; grades 4-6 must have achieved 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place in any semester of 2024. (Note: If achieved 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place, but the total nominal average of the semester does not reach 65 points or more, the award qualification will be forfeited.) Or the 2024 threeM system grades 4-6 academic performance must reach the following subject levels: In Chinese, Malay, English (including essays and comprehension), Mathematics, Local Studies, Science, and Moral. If any subject has a "C" or "3B", it is not eligible.
(3) Junior High Group: Must have achieved 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place in any semester of 2024, or a total nominal average of any semester over 75 points. (Note: If achieved 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place, but the total nominal average of the semester does not reach 60 points or more, the award qualification will be forfeited.)
(4) High School Group: Must have achieved 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place in any semester of 2024, or a total nominal average of any semester over 70 points. (Note: If achieved 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place, but the total nominal average of the semester does not reach 60 points or more, the award qualification will be forfeited.)
(5) Senior High School Group (Numbers 10 and 11): Must have achieved 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place in any semester of 2024, or a total nominal average of any semester over 60 points.
(6) Final Exam Results:
1. SPM (2023): Must have at least 6 A's (Malay language must pass)
2. STPM or University Matriculation (2023): Must pass at least 4 subjects including the common paper.
3. Diploma Academic Specialty Graduation Certificate (2023)
(7) Chinese Independent School Unified Exam (2023):
1. Junior High Group: Pass all subjects, 5 subjects with excellent grades.
2. High School Group: Pass all subjects, 4 subjects with excellent grades.
(8) University (2023): Bachelor Graduation Certificate
(9) Newborn (2024): (Members only) No age limit
(10) Excellence in Sports Award (2024): Must represent whole Sarawak/nationally (Zhao'an-origin children have no age limit, affiliated member children limited to under 18 years old)
