On July 2, Malaysia Airlines (hereinafter referred to as "Malaysia Airlines") officially entered Shenzhen Airport, launching international passenger flights between Shenzhen and Kuala Lumpur. This is also the first international passenger route opened at Shenzhen Airport for this summer season.

As a member of the oneworld alliance, the entry of Malaysia Airlines marks the first time that Shenzhen Airport's "airline circle of friends" achieves full coverage of the three major airline alliances: Star Alliance, SkyTeam, and oneworld.

The newly opened Shenzhen-Kuala Lumpur route by Malaysia Airlines is scheduled to operate one flight daily. Inbound flight MH522 departs Kuala Lumpur at 21:05 local time and arrives in Shenzhen at 01:15 Beijing time the next day; outbound flight MH523 departs Shenzhen at 02:45 Beijing time and arrives in Kuala Lumpur at 06:45 local time.

Kuala Lumpur is the capital of Malaysia and an important aviation hub in Southeast Asia, as well as a popular destination for business and leisure for residents of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

With Malaysia Airlines starting operations on the Shenzhen-Kuala Lumpur route, the range of air services available to travelers between the two locations is further expanded. This not only helps to strengthen business ties, economic cooperation, and cultural exchanges between ASEAN and the Greater Bay Area, but also creates convenient connections for travelers transiting through Kuala Lumpur to other destinations in Malaysia, as well as to Southeast Asia, South Asia, Oceania, and other international locations.

"This entry into Shenzhen Airport demonstrates Malaysia Airlines' confidence in the continued growth potential of the Chinese market. As one of the most dynamic cities in the Greater Bay Area, the Shenzhen route will further enhance Malaysia Airlines' ability to serve business, premium, and leisure travelers via the Kuala Lumpur hub, bringing more travel options to passengers, and closely connecting Malaysia, Southeast Asia, and broader international markets with one of China's leading innovation and trade hubs," said Bryan Foong, Chief Executive Officer (Aviation) of Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG).
