South Korean actress Son Ye-jin married Hyun Bin, her co-star from the drama 'Crash Landing on You', in March 2022. The same year in November, she gave birth to a son. Last year, she announced her return to the screen with renowned director Park Chan-wook's new film 'Hopeless', with the male lead being the award-winning actor Lee Byung-hun. This marks their first collaboration in over 20 years since the 2002 Korean film 'Joint Security Area JSA'.

On the 21st, it was reported that 'Hopeless' has wrapped up shooting and is expected to be released this fall. A relevant source stated, “The filming, which lasted for five months, was completed on the 15th of this month.” The film 'Hopeless' is an adaptation of the American novel 'The Ax', telling the story of “Ryu Man-su”, played by Lee Byung-hun, who is laid off from a paper company he worked at for 25 years. To protect his wife and two children and keep the house they struggled to buy, he sets out to find a new job. Son Ye-jin plays his wife, “Mi-ri”.

The first still was also released on the 21st, showing Lee Byung-hun wearing work gloves and slippers dancing with Son Ye-jin, who is dressed in a short skirt, in a park, creating a warm scene. Park Chan-wook said: “I started writing the screenplay in 2017, and I'm immensely grateful to have completed a project I've always wanted to shoot.” Lee Byung-hun expressed great anticipation for this project, while Son Ye-jin said: “Watching the production process, I believe a very impressive work will emerge. I'm eager for audiences to see this film.”
