(Thailand, 6th) Thai law enforcement on Saturday seized a batch of 100,000 liters of diesel belonging to a Malaysian logistics company and detained a Thai employee to assist with the investigation.
According to Bernama, the operation in Sadao District, Songkhla Province, southern Thailand, was launched after authorities received public reports and conducted intelligence gathering. Police, the military, and local government units jointly carried out the raid on Saturday morning.
Authorities discovered a large quantity of hidden diesel in the company’s underground storage tanks.
Songkhla Governor Rattana Sajjacholpong stated that this company, owned by Malaysians, illegally stored 100,000 liters of diesel without proper licenses. Preliminary investigations showed that the diesel was transported from Malaysia and allegedly smuggled into Thailand.
He said that Police Region 9 in Thailand have confiscated the diesel and, citing the 1999 Fuel Control Act, are investigating the employee involved for charges including unauthorized possession and concealment of fuel.
