Remnant Circulation of 'Hongxia' Typhoon Continues Northward, Torrential Rain Hits Hubei and Sichuan

The 12th typhoon of this year, 'Hongxia', ceased numbering on the 27th, but its remnant circulation continues moving northward in China. Combined with abundant moisture brought by the southwest monsoon, this has resulted in sustained heavy rainfall and thunderstorm gale weather across most parts of Hubei province.

At 6 p.m. on the 27th, the National General Headquarters for Flood Control and Drought Relief activated a level IV emergency flood response for Hubei and Sichuan, where the risks of mountain torrents, geological disasters, and flooding of small to medium rivers remain high. On the 28th, the Central Meteorological Observatory continued to issue a yellow alert for rainstorms and a blue alert for severe convective weather.

● Nearly 30,000 Affected in Jiangxi

According to the Jiangxi Provincial Emergency Management Department, as of 4 p.m. on the 27th, typhoon 'Hongxia' had affected 29,400 people in the province, with 10,009 people urgently relocated, 721.68 hectares of crops affected, and direct economic losses reaching 17.0837 million yuan.

Typhoon 'Hongxia' brought strong winds and rain. Statistics show that from 4 p.m. on the 26th to 4 p.m. on the 27th, the average rainfall across Jiangxi was 16.6mm, with rainfall exceeding 100mm at 118 stations across 12 counties in the province.
