On the 19th, 119 Chinese citizens were evacuated from Israel to Egypt via the Taba border crossing in South Sinai Province, Egypt.
Xinhua News Agency reporters at the Taba crossing witnessed the evacuees entering Egyptian territory in succession around 3:30 PM after completing the necessary formalities at the border crossing. They were then directed to board buses.
According to the Chinese Embassy in Egypt, the evacuees from Israel include 117 Chinese students and 2 Hong Kong compatriots, who will be transferred to Cairo.
Dr. Sun Xue, a postdoctoral researcher at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, told reporters that it took about four hours to travel from Jerusalem to the Taba border crossing. Staff from the Chinese Embassy in Israel accompanied them throughout the process and provided emergency food supplies. “During the entry procedures at the Taba crossing, staff and volunteers from the Chinese Embassy in Egypt were very helpful and coordinated everything well. We are very grateful to them.”
