Wang Leehom will celebrate his 30th anniversary since debuting in two days. Recently, he gathered with his mentors Li Shouquan and his wife, as well as his cousin Li Jianfu and his wife. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to his two mentor figures for bringing him into this industry and launching his "best 30 years."
He described Li Shouquan as a boss with an educational spirit, who never treated artists as cash cows. When Wang gradually needed greater creative freedom, Li Shouquan simply said, "I would never clip the wings of a bird that should be flying." This deeply touched Wang and remains fresh in his memory to this day. That quote profoundly influenced his outlook on the future. He remarked that if he ever has the chance to sign new talent, he hopes to follow the same principles: guiding them with heart and sharing his experience without reservation. Ultimately, the goal is not control, but to help artists truly discover their own paths and let them fly freely.
Li Shouquan, in turn, said he is proud of the direction Wang Leehom has taken over the years. Recalling that in the past, most young male singers were packaged as idols, he deliberately avoided the idol route because he believed Wang was not a fleeting youth product, but a creator with real musical talent.
