(Bandar Seri Begawan, 24th) Creative activities ignite students’ passion for language and culture. During the fourth week of September, the primary section of St. George’s School was filled with laughter and joy as the entire school community came together to celebrate the 2025 Language Week. Throughout this week, English and Malay classes were transformed into vibrant and interactive spaces full of creativity and fun. Every classroom buzzed with excitement as students eagerly took part in calligraphy contests, coloring competitions, storytelling sessions, crafts, quiz games, treasure hunts, and more—each designed to inspire a love for language expression.
The highlight of the week arrived as scheduled on Saturday, September 20th, when all teachers and students gathered for a closing celebration packed with performances and friendly competitions. Dressed in dazzling costumes as their favorite storybook characters, students brought classic tales vividly to life on campus. To ensure that every student had a chance to shine, the school thoughtfully divided the schedule into two parts: lower grade students showcased their talents before the break, while upper grade activities took place after the break. The Malay language department arranged performances, spelling bees, speeches, and storytelling; meanwhile, the English department organized spelling bees, Boggle word games, general knowledge quizzes, storytelling sessions, and exciting “Jeopardy”-style knowledge competitions.
To recognize students’ outstanding performances and creativity, Principal Janidi Jingan and Vice Principal NM Mubarak presented awards to distinguished students from the lower grades, while Head of Primary Madam Alice Ting presented achievement awards to upper grade students. The highly anticipated “Best Dressed Award” provided a perfect finale to the day, with one girl and one boy from both lower and upper grades each winning this honor.
Language Week serves as a vivid reminder of how words, stories, and culture draw the school community closer together. From colorful costumes to dynamic competitions, this celebration of language and imagination is sure to leave a lasting impression in the hearts of all students.
