(Kuala Lumpur, 5th) A heatwave has struck Kota Setar! The Meteorological Department on Sunday (April 5) issued a Level 2 high temperature (heatwave) warning for Kota Setar, Kedah, Malaysia, while 8 other areas in Peninsular Malaysia are under a Level 1 high temperature (alert) warning.
These 8 areas include Perlis; Kuala Muda, Kubang Pasu, Pokok Sena, Pendang, Padang Terap, Sik, and Baling in Kedah; Hulu Perak and Kuala Kangsar in Perak; Kuala Krai, Pasir Mas, Tanah Merah, and Machang in Kelantan; Maran and Jerantut in Pahang; and Segamat in Johor.
According to the Meteorological Department, the alert level refers to a situation where the highest temperature remains between 35°C to 37°C for at least 3 consecutive days; the heatwave level is when the highest temperature stays between 37°C to 40°C for at least 3 consecutive days.
