Veteran Hong Kong actor and Hong Kong Film Awards winner, film art director Luk Suk-yuen was reported missing in Poland last Friday (July 3), and has been unaccounted for over a week. Luk’s close friends have anxiously posted missing person notices on social media. Hong Kong’s Immigration Department has contacted the Chinese Embassy in Poland, launching a coordinated international search and rescue operation.
According to Luk’s friend, visual designer Chong Danni, she has been unable to reach Luk for a week. It is reported that his last known location was a shopping mall in Krakow, Poland; security cameras captured him entering the mall alone, but there is no footage of him leaving, making it impossible to determine his subsequent whereabouts.
Chong has already issued missing person alerts on social media, attaching Luk’s photos and physical description, and announcing the Polish local police and missing person emergency hotlines, urging Chinese residents and locals in Poland to stay vigilant.
In response, the Hong Kong Immigration Department stated that they have received a written request for help from his family, and have immediately activated the “Assistance to Hong Kong Residents Outside Hong Kong Group” 24-hour hotline to expedite the search process. Family and friends speculate Luk may have lost his phone, suffered a sudden health issue, or gotten lost; there is currently no evidence indicating criminal bodily harm.

Eighty-year-old Luk Suk-yuen graduated from Northwestern University’s Radio/TV/Film program in the United States. After returning to Hong Kong, he served as a TVB program producer and director before switching to the advertising industry. In 1986, he won the Best Art Direction Award at the 5th Hong Kong Film Awards for the film “Silent Night.” After retirement, Luk frequently traveled alone to Europe for study and art exhibitions, having previously visited Germany, France, the Czech Republic, and Sweden. As a result, friends and family were not initially overly concerned, but this disappearance in Poland has left his family and industry friends extremely anxious.
