(Kuala Lumpur, 23rd) As of 9:15 this morning, a total of 7 areas have recorded unhealthy air pollution index levels, with the Serian Police Headquarters in Sarawak being the most severe and already nearing the very unhealthy level.
According to the Department of Environment's Air Pollution Management System website (APIMS) data, the 7 areas with unhealthy air pollution index levels are mainly concentrated in Sarawak, while Selangor, Kedah, and Perak each have one area with an unhealthy air pollution index level.
The areas in Sarawak with air pollution index at unhealthy levels are Serian Police Headquarters (194), Kuching (183), Sri Aman (177), and Samarahan (175).
In Peninsular Malaysia, the areas with unhealthy air pollution index levels are Johan Setia in Selangor (157), Sungai Petani in Kedah (140), and Taiping in Perak (121).
In addition, there are a total of 61 areas nationwide with air pollution index at moderate levels, of which 16 areas have reached 90 points or above, including Shah Alam, Selangor (97), Kuala Selangor (95), Klang (91), Banting (91); Mukah, Sarawak (96), Bintulu (95), Samalaju (93), Miri (91); Seri Manjung, Perak (95), Ipoh Batu Gajah (90); Alor Setar, Kedah (94); Nilai, Negeri Sembilan (93); Bukit Rambai, Melaka (92); Seberang Perai, Penang (91), Minden (91); Putrajaya Federal Territory (90).
According to the official system, an air pollution index between 0 and 50 is considered good, 51 to 100 is moderate, 101 to 200 is unhealthy, 201 to 300 is very unhealthy, and above 300 is hazardous.
