(Borneo Bulletin, Bandar Seri Begawan, 1st)—This morning at 8am, Father Ai Ling of the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Heaven, Bandar Seri Begawan, led parishioners to the Catholic cemetery to conduct a memorial prayer ceremony. Nearly a hundred faithful attended to pray and lay flowers for their departed loved ones, in an atmosphere solemn yet warm.
The memorial prayer was presided over by Father Ai Ling, who led the faithful in reciting prayers together, and then went to each grave to sprinkle holy water for blessings, beseeching the Lord to grant the departed eternal rest and may perpetual light shine upon all souls.
The Catholic Church designates every November as the 'Month of the Holy Souls in Purgatory', with November 1 as 'All Saints’ Day' and November 2 as 'Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed' (also known as All Souls’ Day), aimed at remembering and praying for departed faithful, as well as encouraging reflection on the meaning of life, cherishing the present, and living a virtuous life.
On the day, the faithful laid flowers and lit candles in the cemetery, expressing their remembrance and longing for departed loved ones through prayer and action, and hoped that the souls of the deceased would enter the Kingdom of Heaven and enjoy eternal peace.
