Ampang 'Little Genting' Experiences 2 Major Rockfalls, 6 Cars Damaged

Ampang's 'Little Genting' experienced two consecutive major rockfall incidents on Monday morning (November 3rd), resulting in damage to a total of 6 cars, but fortunately no injuries were reported.

The incidents occurred at 8:15am and 8:40am, next to the Bukit Permai Garden Pearl Pavilion apartment building. Both rockfalls caused several large boulders to tumble down onto the road, crushing vehicles parked by the roadside.

It is understood that there was heavy rain locally on Sunday night (November 2nd), and residents suspect the downpour caused the hillside to loosen, which triggered the rockfalls.

Lian Hua Gardens State Assemblyman Yew Jia Hao rushed to the scene immediately after receiving reports. He confirmed to this paper that no injuries or fatalities occurred in this incident, but unfortunately, 6 cars were damaged.

It is reported that in the past, smaller rockfalls had occurred at this location, but never as serious as this time.

"At that time, the city council had implemented remedial measures by installing wire netting over the hillside to prevent rockfalls, but it was not fully covered."

Currently, the relevant authorities have carried out safety assessments and cleanup operations at the site, and are urging the public to avoid the affected area for safety reasons.
