(Miri, 6th) The Premier Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari, attended the Hari Raya celebration organized by the Deputy Minister for Women, Children, and Community Wellbeing, Datuk Rosey Yunus, today.
Upon arrival, the Premier was welcomed by Rosey Yunus and enjoyed a display of Malay martial arts, followed by greetings with local leaders and the public.
During an interview with the media, Rosey expressed her gratitude to the Premier for announcing the Sarawak government's plan to establish a resort township in the Beraya area, which is expected to bring development to the nearby coastal regions.
"Although Beraya is not part of the Subis constituency, it belongs to the Subis administrative region, so it will also bring certain development to the area."
She mentioned that Sarawak athletes made significant progress in sailing at last year’s Malaysian Games, and more outstanding athletes from Sarawak will be cultivated. She proposed the construction of a sailing competition center in Bekenu, and thanked the Prime Minister for allowing the construction of a water sports center in Bekenu, although the exact location is yet to be determined.
"Regarding the development of Niah National Park, we cannot modernize it, but a seaside park has been built in Niah, which will improve its condition, including roads, but it cannot be commercialized, otherwise UNESCO will withdraw the site's recognition."
Attendees included Sarawak Transport Minister Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, Sarawak Utilities and Telecommunications Minister Dato Sri Julaihi, and Sarawak Deputy Minister for Public Health, Housing, and Local Government Dato Penguang Manggil, among others.
